Make your own Tote Bag
Cut out 2 bag handles as per measurements above.
Cut out 2 bag patterns for the outside of the bag, cut out 2 bag patterns for the lining of the bag.
Place the outside of the bag right sides together & sew up along seams marked 1,2 & 3 above.
Repeat for the lining of the bag. After completing the seams, pull the bottom corners straight
together and sew flat along the seam creating a rectangular base to the bag.
Repeat on the lining.
Turn the outside of the bag right side out. Fold the handles in half length wise and iron flat,
fold again from each side into the centre, creating a folded 2” strip. Machine sew along both edges of the strip.
Place your bag on the table and line up one of the handles as in would appear on the finished bag,
flip the handle back down on itself and measure in 2” from each side of the bag, pin handles in place.
Repeat on the opposite side.
Taking your lining leave it turned inside out, place the outside of the bag, handles and
everything into the lining. Check to make sure you have the right sides of the fabric together.
Line up the seams on the left and right hand sides and pin, now pin around the whole top of the bag.
Sew approx a 3/4” seam all the way around, sealing the whole bag together, Remove pins.
Using a stitch ripper, open a gap along seam 3 of the lining and pull the whole bag through.
Sew up the small opening.
Place the lining inside the opening of the bag and pull handles straight. Iron in place.
Optional: Sew another line along the top of the bag on the right side of the fabric.
