Make your own vintage inspired DIY pillow case
Vintage finds in Banbridge – when traveling we usually try to stop as much as possible in a variety of charity and thrift shops. Last weekend, on our way to Belfast, we stopped briefly in Banbridge where we came across a box of hand embroidered pillow covers in perfect condition.
Carefully hand embroidered pieces from a time when we all had more time; personally there is nothing more luxurious than feather filled pillows covered in crisp cotton linens, with beautiful floral details. Details that remind me we should slow down, and where we sleep should cradle us in soft clouds filled with sweet dreams.
To be honest at 50p each I almost felt like I was stealing them, but I will use and cherish them as if I had sewn them myself.
To add to my vintage finds I made up a few square upcycled pillow covers yesterday, from similar vintage sheets and remnants of lace.
To make up your own DIY pillow case (sample for the pillow behind the smaller one in the above image) follow the diagrams below.
Cut out a length of material, the size I used was 14.5” x 35” because my final pillow size is 14” x 14”.
Turn right side out and add feather pillow filler.
