Tell us a little about you and your chosen discipline.
I think I have become an illustrator and perhaps even a ‘creative’. Sometimes I work towards art but most of the time my work has a root in function so therefore I see myself as a person who draws things.
As a maker, what/who inspires you?
I am inspired by my old art teachers, the people I work with, my sister Gianna Tasha Tomasso, my partner Roisin, David shrigley, animals, the Spiddal beaches, the Santa Fe artist Geninne and anyone who lives their creative practice
Where can we see your work?
I have a website weebalms.com where I make and design natural lip balms, I have work in the wooden heart Galway and ard bia Galway and I sell from Granny likes it Galway, Shells cafe Sligo, O’Reilly Turpin Westport and cut throat barbers Galway. I am also on facebook as gala loves where I post some illustrations from time to time.
Do you run classes / workshops? If yes where can we find out about them?
I hope to expand my work to a place where I can offer workshops and training but at the moment I’m short on space and time.
Do you have any advice to someone starting his or her journey as a Maker/Crafter?
Do what you do every day… Ignore the doubters as there will be many, take chances but know when someone is wasting your time and talent.
I am always open to new ideas, commissions, proposals and love drawing for people who have quirky ideas. I’ve done wedding invites, drawings of houses and institutions, unique cards and stationary… Balms to suit individual requirements… I like new projects!
