Tell us a little about you and your chosen discipline.
I’ve started soap making about 8 years ago after dropping off Art college. My soap-maker friend wanted to move towards a different direction and she asked me was I interested in taking over her craft, I said ‘yes!’ she showed me how to make soap and I was hooked!
As a maker, what/who inspires you?
I always loved mixing oils, butters, essential oils. So I started playing with ingredients and mixes I now have a range of 10 soaps, face creams, hand lotion and more. All made with natural ingredients without the use of fragrances, colourings or animal derivatives.
Where can we see your work?
The Soap Room soaps and creams are stocked in about 20 shops around Co. Galway and Co. Clare, including Galway city, Westport, New Quay, Clifden and more. I am also a regular at the Saturday Market in Galway.
Do you run classes / workshops?
I don’t run workshop at the moment, but I might consider the possibility for the future.
Do you have any advice to someone starting his or her journey as a Maker/Crafter?
If you have an idea and a good feeling about it, if you feel creative and enthusiastic then go for it!
