Happy Halloween. Yeah, so happy to be involved with Sew a Softie for Halloween, a big thank you to Trixi for organising the event again this year. Bat Cat is my latest free Softie Pattern, quick and easy to hand sew together, the perfect scary accessory for trick or treating 🙂

Bat Cat Halloween Sewing Pattern

Tools:

Scissors Embroidery sewing needle Pins

Materials:

Light grey felt, A4 paper in size. Scraps of black, dark grey and green felt Black, green and grey embroidery thread/floss Craft filler

To Make:

Download and print out the Bat Cat Sewing Pattern on A4 paper at 100%

 

Click here for a guide to all the stitches used in this project. Cut out all of the pieces listed on the pattern in felt, cat body in light grey, legs, and wings in black, eyes in dark grey and green. Whip stitch appliqué the green felt cat eye to the centre of the dark grey cat eye with 1 strand of the green embroidery thread/floss. Repeat on the second eye. Whip stitch appliqué the eyes onto the front of the cat’s face.

Bat Cat Halloween Sewing Pattern

Using 2 strands of black embroidery thread/floss back stitch the Bat Cat’s mouth into place and using a satin fill in the nose.

Whip stitch Appliqué the black legs onto the body using 1 strand of black embroidery thread/floss.

Bat Cat Halloween Sewing Pattern

Attach the wings to the centre of the back of the Cat body using black thread and a running stitch.

Bat Cat Halloween Sewing Pattern

Place the two sides of the body together, rights sides facing out and whip stitch around the circumference of the body leaving a space at the bottom for stuffing with craft filler.

Stuff and whip stitch the opening closed.

Your Cat Bat Softie is now ready. To make a bigger Cat Bat the pattern can be enlarged to A3.
