Handmade Paper Hearts

Make your own paper heart decorations in a few easy steps.

Firstly all you need is an old book, the one I found was very worn and tattered and the pages were falling out.

Then you will need a ruler, pencil, stapler & staples, small pieces of string and a scissors or rotary cutter for make the strips of paper.

Handmade Paper Hearts

I removed 4 pages from the book, the book is A5 in size, each page will make one heart.

Then using my ruler width as a guide I divided the pages into four sections. there will be a bit left over on the left and right hand sides of the pages.

Using the rotary cutter and the ruler I cut out the strips of paper.

I Measured each strip and reduced it to the size I required. Starting from left to right the strips below measure 5″, 5 1/2″, 6″ and 7″.

I then folded each of the strips in half.

Starting with the shortest strip of paper I laid each strip on top of each other matching up the fold lines.

Place a piece of string folded in half as in the picture below and fold each strip back over in half.

When the strips are all folded over using the stapler secure the strips of paper and string together approximately 1″ in from the folded side.

Finally opening up the strips, match the smallest ones together followed by each strip until you have matched them all together at the ends, staple in position near the base of the strips.

The hearts are now ready to hang as decoration.
