Tools:
- Pattern – click here to download (Print on an A4 sheet at 100%)
- Cutting mat
- Rotary cutter
- scissors
- needle
- pins
Instructions:
Print out the pattern (Print on an A4 sheet at 100%) and cut out.
Pin to the felt and cut out. There is no need to add on a seam allowance, the pattern is the full size you will need.
Two rectangular pieces for the case and 1 piece for the butterfly.
Using the blanket stitch attach the butterfly to one of the rectangle pieces.
Position the buttons (& die-cut flowers if using them) on the wings and sew in place.
Using the chain stitch sew along the centre of the butterfly wings creating the body.
To create the butterfly antennae starting at the centre of the top of the wings chain stitch away from the body. Sew buttons to the top of the butterfly antennae.
Place the two rectangles of felt together with the butter fly facing you and blanket stitch around three sides, leaving the top open.
Your glass case is now ready to use.
I like this, looks good, seems easy to make, and practical. And felt material would be good for keeping glasses polished.
